"It's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next to Me" was a hit song by Barry White. The song was written by Ekundayo Paris and Nelson Pigford. Similar to the initial reaction after first hearing his earlier hit "You're the First, the Last, My Everything", when those close to White heard the demo of "It's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next To Me", they burst into laughter.[1] Like before, White believed that the song would be a hit and was proven correct. Released from his album Barry White Sings for Someone You Love, it spent five weeks at the top of the R&B singles charts during the fall of 1977 and was also a big hit on the pop charts, peaking at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.[2] The track was later sampled by Mary J. Blige on her single "You Bring Me Joy", from the album My Life (1994). Another song which uses the same beat of "It's Ecstasy" is Le Pamplemousse's "Le Spank" from 1977. The track was also heavily sampled in the number 1 hit "Rock DJ" by British artist Robbie Williams.
